AI & Call Recording Disclosure

Last updated: July 2, 2026

Verata AI, operated by Verata Group, LLC (“Verata,” “we,” “us”), provides AI-powered voice and chat receptionist services to home-services businesses. We believe people deserve to know when they're talking to software. This page explains, in plain language, how our AI and call recording work.

You may be talking to an AI

When you call or message a business that uses Verata AI, the first interaction is typically handled by an automated, AI-powered receptionist. Our receptionists identify themselves as automated assistants — they do not pretend to be human. If you ask to speak with a person, the receptionist will transfer you to a human at the business or take a message for a prompt human callback.

Calls and chats may be recorded

Calls and chat conversations handled by Verata AI may be recorded and transcribed so the business can review its messages, confirm appointment details, and improve service quality. Recording notice and consent are handled in accordance with the laws of the state where each client business operates. Some states require that all parties consent to recording; where required, callers receive a recording notice at the start of the call. If you do not wish to be recorded, you may say so, hang up, or contact the business through another channel.

Verata AI is not an emergency service

Our receptionists are trained to recognize signs of an emergency (for example, a gas smell, a burst pipe, or electrical danger) and to escalate immediately to a human at the business. However, Verata AI is not an emergency service and is not a substitute for 911. If you are experiencing an emergency that threatens life or property, hang up and dial 911 or your utility's emergency line first.

Information the AI collects

To book appointments and take messages, the receptionist may collect information such as your name, phone number, address, and a description of the service you need. This information is shared with the business you contacted so they can serve you. See our Privacy Policy for details on how data is handled and retained.

Accuracy and confirmation

The AI receptionist answers based on information provided by the business it represents. Details such as pricing, availability, and scope of work are estimates until confirmed by the business. The business — not the AI — is responsible for final quotes and commitments.
